First ER Visit

This is not a "first" that I was expecting or hoping to be able to document at this point! She got a "laceration" on her left hand while playing in the kitchen last weekend. Addie Grace scoots around the house instead of crawling. She leans forward like she is going to crawl and then just slides around the floor to get to what she wants. She was "cooking" in the kitchen and scooted herself over beside the stove where she slid her hand down the oven door. Let it be known that the oven door has a sharp edge that will cut this tips of the fingers of a baby! She cut the tips of 3 fingers with the middle finger being the worst. It was gushing blood and would not stop! By the way, please do not call DSS, the stove was not on and she was being watched!

Let the fun begin...off to the ER we headed. Luckily Crystal was at the house and was able to drive us so that I could hold pressure on her fingers. My sweet child fell asleep on the way to the ER and it allowed me to hold pressure on her hand without her fighting me. Once we arrived to the ER, she was nearly an angel. I would have actually preferred for her to be screaming her head off so that we might have gotten to see a doctor sooner! When we did finally see a doctor her hand had stopped bleeding, or so it appeared. He took a look at it and decided it would be okay to "glue" the lacerations. He first wanted to clean it and then apply the glue. This is when Miss Priss decided the fun was over. She let everyone know that she was having no more of this nice behavior! She screamed her little head off and cried alligator tears while it was cleaned and glued. Once he started to clean it, it began pouring blood again. It bled and bled and bled!!! It took 2 tubes of dermabond to stop the bleeding. She wore herself out crying and actually fell asleep while they were bandaging it up. I came home and put a mitten on her hand and left it there for 2 days to keep the bandage covered. When I took the bandage off to change it, the glue came off-this was not supposed to happen for about another week!!! The cuts were still somewhat open so I was a little worried. I kept it wrapped with a mitten on for a couple of more days and then she decided it was time to take it off. She began ripping off mittens, socks, bandages, band-aids, or whatever we covered it with! By that time the cuts had sealed over pretty good and I felt okay about them being open.

What can I say? Just another day in our lives! It's always something it seems! Always something but always great and lucky for the life we have!

These pictures were and attempt to get a shot of her mitten covered hand but turned out to be a quick photo shoot with Parker and his favorite girl in the world.
