Fourth of July Fun

We enjoyed a nice afternoon with family for July 4th. Chad was our chief chef and cooked about 20 pieces of chicken on the big cooker and his dad fried a turkey-everything was delicious!
We had enough desserts to feed a small army and I am in sugar overload today!

The kids swam and played and we ended the night with fireworks. Cambell found himself a bit under the weather, with a 103 temp! Once his motrin or tylenol kicked in he would perk up and play a bit, then when it was time for the next dose he would start to melt. He was cheerful during the beginning of the fireworks and then had a severe meltdown over applying bug spray! I knew then that it was time to go home real soon. He finally gave in and decided he would wear bug spray and participate in the festivities for a few minutes. All was well and he held his first sparkler....the sparkler went out and unfortunately he then decided to touch it....OUCH! He got a small burn on his thumb and index finger. Festivities were officially over at this time!

The day ended a little rough but it was a fun day overall. Thank you to all our solders and their families for the sacrifices for our freedom!!!

A highlight of the weekend was definitely Parker learning to swim WITHOUT SWIMMIES! He could have been doing this for a while now but he has been too scared to try. We finally convinced him to try with both Chad and I in the pool with him on Friday. He definitely surprised himself!! He now thinks he is a swimming professional! He needs more practice, but I am so happy that he finally trusted himself enough to give it a try!

Watching the fireworks show

All eyes in the sky

Parker was dancing all around with his sparkler! He has some crazy moves!
