10 Week Check Up

I saw the doctor yesterday and everything was just as it should be! This was actually the first time I have seen the doctor even though I have been seen in the office a half a dozen times already. It was a super long day at the office because he got called away to multiple deliveries during my time there.

There was one nervous point during the visit when the nurse was trying to find the baby's heartbeat. She made me promise before she tried that I would not freak out if she couldn't hear it because it can be difficult to hear with the doppler at this point in pregnancy. I assured her that I wouldn't and I knew that was a possibility. I was a big fat liar. I was freaking out. It took her at least 5 minutes to find it and 2 doppler machines!!! Once she found it, it was loud and clear and beating 168 beats per minute. As a lay there looking up to the ceiling, waiting for her to hopefully find it, I noticed the poster on the ceiling (by the way, I have always HATED the fact that the OB/GYN puts posters on the ceiling). Anyway, I found the poster comforting as I tried not to freak out. It said, "Never fear the unknown with a known God"....wow! That was speaking right to me at that very moment. I think it kept me from going into convulsions! After the nurse heard it and left the room I was a little emotional about the whole ordeal!

The doctor said everything else checked out right on target. As we talked about my low progesterone numbers in the beginning and the drastic changes he said to me, "I think I have a perfect name for your baby if it's a girl...'Grace'...because it's by the grace of God that this is a healthy pregnancy".....little does he know if it's a girl she will have the middle name Grace!!! Isn't it funny how things happen like that? I feel so blessed. I will see him again in 4 weeks. Until then, I just have to keep dealing with the "thickening" I am experiencing. I absolutely hate this phase of pregnancy. You know the phase where you just look like you've been eating too many doughnuts!!! I haven't gained any weight yet, but boy is my body changing in a hurry!
