Splish Splash!

Most nights the boys have such a great time playing in the tub, minus the few arguments over who has what toy. Parker is getting big enough to wash his own self (if he feels like it) and he often likes to wash Cambell too.

It's kind of funny to me because when we first moved in the house I tried to be so careful about not "messing up" my new house. I would fuss at the kids if they splashed water out of the tub and especially if any got on the walls. After about 2 months of this, I got an email about 'the way I want to be remembered'. To sum it up, after reading it, I decided that I did not want my kids to remember me for my clean house. I do not want them to remember that I would never let them play or splash water in the tub. I want them to remember all the fun and silliness that they had growing up in my house and that my house was "lived in". Now don't get me wrong, there are still times when I fuss at them about splashing TOO much or how filthy the playroom is after a busy day of playing, but all in all I am trying to take it all in stride and enjoy the noise and mess that they make.

Lee, I'm having a similar revelation at my house. As the girls have ventured on into their second year, we have had so many more messes, tantrums, and fights (bad fights). The past few weeks, I've yelled (a lot) and given quite a few flyswatter spankings... all to no avail. I think you're right. I want to enjoy them and them to enjoy me (to a certain extent, of course). I guess you really do have to pick your battles.
