Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

Today is Cambell's 2nd birthday! Although it is nearly midnight, I wanted to take the time to post about this special day. His actual party is tomorrow so today was pretty uneventful. When he woke up I told him today was his birthday. In true fashion he replied, "unh-unh". Then I sang him "Happy Birthday" and his response was, "CAKE!" It was too cute! With this in mind, I made a quick stop by the bakery after work and got him a small cake to enjoy today. I couldn't resist since he was asking for it at 7:00 a.m.

Now, here's a little story of how we got to this point in our life...

You were born in July 18, 2006 at 7:43 a.m. You were 7 pounds 4 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long. My due date was actually July 13th but you were not moving. The doctors took me out of work at 37 weeks and I stayed home for 4 weeks waiting. Finally, I had a scheduled C-section (which I was hoping not to). However, God knew what he was doing because your cord was wrapped around your neck! Because I had a C-section the doctor easily removed it and all was okay! When you were first born I was so overwhelmed with joy. So overwhelmed by the fact that I could love you and your brother both so much and so differently all at the same time. Most people thought you looked like your Poppy and I, honestly, did not know who I thought you looked like! Now I usually get credit for you looking like me (which I love!).

The first months of your life were quite a challenge. Your tummy was not right but no one could figure out what exactly was wrong. All we knew was that you spit up ALL the time in HUGE volumes and you cried ALL the time! You also had chronic ear infections and congestion, and periods of apnea where you would stop breathing. This was the scariest part. It was so difficult because no matter what we did, we could not ease your crying. You spent your first night in the hospital at just 3 months old, another night at 7 months old, and finally, surgery at 8 months old! They performed a laparascopic nissen fundiplication and pyloriplasty. (now that's a mouth full!). It was like a light switch was flipped-you were instantly better! The weeks of recovery were still tough, but we knew right away that you were better.

Once you recovered from the surgery, you started eating like a champ and have never looked back! I don't think there is anything we have found you don't like except vinegar. You started walking around 13 months and are now running and talking all the time. I must say that I often get jealous because you are a daddy's boy. You want him to put give you your milk and put you to bed. Usually when you wake up in the morning you yell for daddy from your crib. You still love your "yammy" and do not go anywhere without at least one lamb.

You adore your brother and your cousins and think you are just as big as they are! You and Parker often argue because of this! Outside is one of your favorite places to be, especially if you can play in the dirt!

I can hardly believe two years have passed since we were blessed with your birth. You bring us so much joy and happiness everyday. Your smile is contagious and I could just kiss your dimple right off your face! I love you "stuff"!

Lee, I am sorry we didn't make it to the party. I know Campbell had a blast. My kids were ill, and Cameron was actually asleep, (I still don't dare wake a sleeping child, unless I have too!) I also had to give meds at DSN, so those are my excuses..... I know they don't mean much, but we weren't just skipping the party!! Happy Belated Birthday Campbell!!!!
