Riverbanks Zoo

I had a mini-vacation this week and today was my last day off so we took the kids to the zoo. It turned out a bit hotter than expected, but it was a fun day for all of us. The highlight for the boys was by far the pony ride. It was so nice this year because we only waited about 5 minutes to ride. Last year we waited nearly an hour!! Both of the boys crashed in the car before we even made it to the interstate. I am so thankful for some time off from work to spend with the family. Of course, I wish I had the rest of the week off too!!!

We hung around to watch them feed the gorillas. Pretty funny to see them "pout" when they don't get the food before another gorilla.

Okay, I just thought this was funny. The monkey (of sorts) on the left was "grooming" the monkey on the right like it was fixing its hair or something.

The bear was after some apples in the water.

Future class clown? He was all about these silly faces today!

Look at the belly laugh Cambell has...He couldn't get enough of this. At one point I gasped because the goat had his whole hand in its mouth! He never flinched.

It just doesn't get any cuter than this!

Last but not least, meet "Pepper" the bear. Cambell came up with the name about 5 hours after we got home. He is currently running a close race with "Yammy" but both went to bed with him tonight!

Parker chose a truck and boat/trailer for his prize.

That looks like Lee Jones sitting on her award winning horse. What was it's name? Not Hobo...

Do you mean Portable Generator? That's the one I rode when I was older...there was also Snipper, Royalty, Image, and my fave Hobo!
