Waiting

Never before have I waited so anxiously for one of my children to go to the bathroom. But today, I wait on the edge of my seat for my sweet baby girl to go potty. She has 1-2 hours left before we are forced to re-admit her to the hospital for dehydration if she doesn't go. Booooo.
I blogged a few days ago about how tough her recovery has been. It's still tough. She has continued to have a terrible time with pain and refuses most food and drink. On average, she is drinking 6-10 oz a day, nibbling on this and that, and sleeping horribly.
We saw her pediatrician yesterday and were nearly hospitalized then, but we decided to make some changes to her pain meds and see if she would improve. I was told if she did not increase her drinking (and thus her urine output) by today then she would surely be full blown dehydrated by this afternoon. So, as we have been doing, we offer every delicious drink that any normal 2 year old would die for. And she refuses to drink. The new pain meds were an improvement in her irritability though, which is a definite relief! She is now on Lortab Elixer. Ummm, let's just say she would not pass a sobriety test on this stuff! She is chillaxin' about 2 hours after she takes it! It's funny really. But back to the point...she only went to the bathroom 1.5 times from 12ish yesterday to this morning. The .5 is because she wet her pants a little in her sleep in the car. As of 11:30 she had gone another .5 time...so that is 2 times in nearly 24 hours. Not cool. She is now napping and I hope and pray that princess pull-up she is wearing is soaking wet when she wakes up. I have her doctor's cell # and am to call him between 2:00 and 3:00 with an update. He said she needed to have gone twice to keep her out of the hospital. The odds are not in her favor at this point. Especially since she only drank 4-5 ounces so far today. The reason he did not admit her this morning was because her mood was better and she seemed to feel a little better (not lethargic and puny like yesterday) and so he hoped she would start drinking more. She was actually smiling this morning. I believe that's the Lortab talking but I'm no doctor. So we wait. We wait for tee-tee. Anxiously and prayerfully, we wait.
