Operation Christmas Child

Have you ever begun a project expecting to offer a gift or a blessing to someone else and end up being the one who is truly blessed? I believe it's God's way of showing Himself to us in the little things. Filling Operation Christmas Child boxes was one of those times when I expected to give something and bless a child but I was equally blessed by being shown the heart of my children, especially my oldest. He understands things more than his younger siblings and he made my heart smile on this day for sure. I bought all the items for the 3 boxes we planned to fill. I bought age/gender matches for each of my children so they could relate to the child they were sending the box to. I suggested the boys draw a picture to include in their boxes. Below is what my sweet Parker came up with.
"Dear boy I hope you like the present. This is me. I love in South Carolina. I am 7 years old. I like hunting. I live with my Dad, Mom, brother, and sister. Please write back. Have a good Christmas. Love, Parker" So simple yet so sweet.

We prayed together for each child who would receive their box and sealed them up and got them ready to drop off. Parker talked about his "boy" for at least a week, wondering if he would write back. In fact, he told me just last week that he should have included his address so the boy could write to him. He's right, we should have. Next year for sure!
